Winter has a bad habit of taking even the smallest of problems and magnifying them. Cold weather is no joke and, if not properly taken care of, your car could feel the heat, so to speak. There’s a lot that can go wrong in winter – but none of it has to happen. Check out these winter car care tips from us here at Vail Auto. Don’t let your vehicle slack off this winter!
- Battery – An old battery often won’t make it through winter due to the extreme temperatures, especially if the car is parked outside. A car requires more current from the battery in order to start during winter which can leave many drivers needing a new. Batteries aren’t all that expensive so if yours is a few years old, it might be time to consider a replacement.
- Tires – Your tires are incredibly important, especially during winter. Tread-less tires won’t have as much grip as new ones and that can lead to major problems on slick roads. Check your tire’s tread and make sure they’re problem inflated as well. Cold weather causes tire pressure to drop and that can lead to decreased handling and responsiveness.
- Lights – Less daylight means you’re using your lights more. As a result, you should make sure the lenses are clean as a whistle and that all the bulbs are working. Make sure to remove snow from the lights before hitting the road for maximum visibility!
