New York Summer Road Trips

If you’re thinking about taking a road trip around New York or just want a fun place to go for a day trip, we have some amazing destinations that you might have never known existed. There’s a lot more to our state than the Big Apple, so check out some of these New York summer road trip spots!

If you love the outdoors, there are plenty of great places to spend a night or a weekend, like the campgrounds at the Golden Hill State Park or taking a hike on one of the 46 High Peaks in Adirondack Park. Hunter Mountain in the Northern Catskills offers ziplining. To get your adrenaline rushing, or do the exact opposite—take a ride down the lazy Ausable Chasm river.

Or maybe you’d rather spend some time checking out New York’s unique amusement parks, festivals, and fairs. The Great New York State Fair is happening at the end of August in Syracuse. And kids will love a visit to Enchanted Forest Water Safari in Old Forge!

If you’d rather check out the local sights and eateries, we have some suggestions there too. The Ommegang brewery in Cooperstown is a gem of delicious craft beer, and Liverpool is home to some famous hotdogs. Finally, walk around the scenic town of Skaneateles and see incredible architecture, clear water, and tons of places to eat.

These are just a few of the awesome things to do around New York this summer, so don’t miss them! For tips on taking safer road trips, give us a call at Vail Auto!
