Before the beautiful colors of the fall season fade away, you’ll want to enjoy them. Here are some great day trips to take while the weather is still nice.
Essex Steam Train – Essex, Connecticut
What better way to enjoy the fall sights then through the window of a classic train? This authentic steam train winds through the marshlands of Essex and along the river. At a peaceful pace and beautiful views, you’ll be transported to a different time.
Lyman Orchards – Middlefield, Connecticut
What activity screams “fall” more than apple-picking? Not only does Lyman Orchards have all kinds of apples to pick (Golden Delicious? Gala? Fuji? Check), but its view is unbeatable. It sits on top of a hill that opens you up to beautiful Connecticut scenery.
Castle Hill Farm – Newtown, Connecticut
For 90 years, Castle Hill Farm has been operating in Newtown. As a celebration, the farm has crafted a giant maze – a seven-acre corn maze to be exact. This is a fun family activity and also features the beautiful sights of the farm.
Mount Tom State Park – Litchfield, Connecticut
Beautiful scenery and fresh air are ingredients for the perfect recipe for a fall day. Mount Tom Park is home to an old fire tower that gives a surround-view of northern Connecticut. You can get up to the tower with a one-mile hike, so you’ll earn that view!
The weather will be turning to the cold side soon. Before it does, get out there and enjoy fall!
