With the holiday weekend upon us, we wanted to share some fun facts about the Fourth of July! See how many of these facts about the Fourth of July you already knew.

  1. Only 2 people actually signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, everyone else signed the document on August 2nd.
  2. There is actually something written on the back of the Declaration of Independence! It says “Original Declaration of Independence dated 4th July 1771” but this is all written backwards and upside down.
  3. We all love the tradition of fireworks, and they actually first took place as a celebration of the 4th of July in 1777.
  4. There was another country that gained independence on the 4th of July, but they actually gained it from the United States. This is the Philippines in 1946.
  5. On July 4, 1826, two United States presidents died, both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.
